Invitation

The 2008 IEEE International Conference on Distributed Human-Machine Systems (DHMS 2008) will be held in Athens, Greece, at the Divani Caravel Hotel (www.divanicaravel.gr). Athens is a metropolitan and cosmopolitan city, the capital of Greece, the birth place of Democracy, the city with the worldwide famous "Acropolis and Parthenon", with the world famous Theater of Herodes Atticus and the "marble stadium" where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896, home of Socrates, Plato, Pericles (Golden Age), and home of the 2004 Olympic Games. Athens is both an "ancient" and a "modern" city in which visitors can walk safely and enjoy the rich - nearly 5,000 year - history it has to offer. Through its technical program, DHMS 2008 will provide a unique opportunity for participants from universities, industry, and government agencies to address challenges, share solutions, and discuss future research directions in distributed human-machine systems. A broad range of topics will combine theory and applications for human- robot/human-machine interaction and interfaces, distributed intelligent systems and networks, agent and holonic systems, swarm intelligence, with the goal of strengthening cooperation of academics, scientists, researchers and engineers with industry.
