Conference venue is located in the historical city centre, in the area called Lesser Town (Malá Strana), so it could be a nice walk from your hotel if it is somewhere nearby (e.g. from the Old Town or from Hradčany). Prague has a good public transport, a tram stop "Malostranské náměstí" of lines 12, 20, 22, and 23 is right in front of the faculty building. You can also take Metro (underground/subway) line A (green) to the station "Malostranská" and then either go one stop by tram (lines 12, 20, 22, 23) to the stop "Malostranské náměstí" or walk there through Letenská street (less than 10 minutes). A ticket costs 20 CZK and you can travel on it one hour in Metro, trams, and buses. Of course, you can always take a taxi, just say the address "Malostranské náměstí, Mathematics Faculty".

Bus No. 119 runs between the airport and metro station Dejvicka (green line - A): Terminal North 1 Terminal North 2 - Divoká Šárka - DEJVICKÁ – journey time is 20 minutes. To go directly to the conference site, transfer at Dejvicka either to green metro line A or tram No. 20. By metro go to station Malostranska and transfer to a tram No. 12, 20, 22, or 23 in the direction Ujezd. The conference site is only one stop away by tram from Malostranska named Malostranske namesti. By tram No. 20 you can go directly from Dejvicka to the stop Malostranske namesti (12 minutes). Look uphill and you will see the building of Faculty of Math and Physics. Bus No. 100 runs between the airport and metro station Zlicin (yellow line - B): Terminal North 1 – Terminal North 2 – ZLIČÍN – journey time is 15 minutes. These buses run approx. every 15 minutes from about 4:30am to 11:30pm. You can transfer then to the subway to get to the city center. Bus No. 179 runs between airport and metro station Nove Butovice (yellow line - B): Terminal North 1 – Terminal North 2 – Motol Hospital – NOVÉ BUTOVICE - journey time is 40 minutes. Bus No. 225 runs between airport and metro station Nove Butovice (yellow line – B): Terminal North 1 – Terminal North 2 - metro station Stodulky (yellow line - B) – metro station Luka (yellow line - B) – metro station Nove Butovice NOVÉ BUTOVICE (yellow line - B) – journey time is 50 minutes. Airport Express runs between the airport and metro station Nadrazi Holesovice (red line – C): Terminal North 1 – Terminal North 2 – NADRAZI HOLESOVICE – journey time is 30 minutes. Airport Express is timed to tie in with arrivals and departures of all SC Pendolino, Eurocity and Intercity trains. A fare of CZK 45 is charged on this route. The fare also covers travel from Holešovice Station to Prague Central Station if the passenger then continues his journey on Czech Railways trains from Central Station. Do not forget to buy a CZK 20 ticket from a news-stand or from a yellow vending machine at the airport. You should also buy and validate a CZK 14 ticket for each suitcase. Public transportation - metro (subway), trams, and buses - is an excellent means of transport in Prague. It operates from 5 a.m. till midnight, and there are special night trams and buses. Tickets can be bought in yellow vending machines (in each metro station) or at news-stands for CZK 20. A ticket must be time-stamped upon boarding a bus or tram for the first time or at the entrance to the subway. A time-stamped ticket remains valid for the next 75 minutes. As long as the ticket is valid you can make as many transfers as you wish. A one day card can be purchased for CZK 80, a three-day card for CZK 220 and a seven-day card for CZK 280. St. Vitus' Cathedral (Katedrála Sv. Víta)
A gothic cathedral, the spiritual symbol of the Czech state, founded in the year 1344 by Jan Lucembursky (John of Luxembourg) and his sons Karel (Charles) and Jan Jindrich (John Henry) in the place of the original romanesque rotunda. Decorated by precious works of art it encloses St. Wenceslas' Chapel and the Crypt with tombs of Bohemian kings. The coronation jewels are deposited here, too. |

Charles Bridge (Karlův most)
The oldest Prague bridge built in the place of the Judita's Bridge that had been badly damaged by a flood in 1342. The Stone or Prague Bridge since 1870 called Charles Bridge, was founded by Charles IV in the year 1357. Both ends of the bridge are fortified by towers (the Lesser Town Bridge Towers, the Old Town Bridge Tower). From 1683 to 1928 thirty sculptures and sculptural groups of the saints were gradually set on the bridge piers. |

National Theater (Národní divadlo)
A neo-rennaisance building erected in 1868 - 1881 as a result of a vast national collection (architect J. Zitek). A fire destroyed much of the building in its first year of existence; it was reconstructed by architect Josef Schulz in 1883. The outside and inside decoration was completed by the artists of the National Theater generation - M. Ales, F. Zenisek, V. Hynais, J. V. Myslbek, etc. The National Theater is the outstanding Czech stage and its repertoire consists of drama, opera and ballet performances. |
