Title of Abstract: Applications of discrete choice methods to design the airplane passenger cabin
Author(s): Stephen P. Jones, Applied Statistics, The Boeing Company (stephen.p.jones@boeing.com )
There are many attributes of a commercial airplane’s cabin interior that affect the degree of comfort and well-being experienced by the airplane passenger. The aircraft manufacturer establishes the levels of some of these attributes; others are determined by the airline operating the aircraft. In this presentation we will describe several applications of discrete choice experiments to the design of the airplane cabin interior. We will then share some observations from these applications about issues in discrete choice methods that we believe are of interest from both a practical and a research perspective.
